Susana Caldeira

Susana Caldeira (MA UMadeira, 2005) studied Anglo-American Culture and Literature and focused her research on Madeiran emigration to Hawai‘i, combining multiple social science perspectives and methods. Her research themes address literature and cultural practices in a migration context, as well as mobility, identity, prejudice, racialization, and acculturation. Her interests focus mainly on the field of insular culture and literature and she has revealed some research on the role of women in the process of migration. She is currently engaged in a PhD program at the University of Madeira (Insular Literature and Culture), she is a researcher at CEHA (Centre for Atlantic History Studies) and a member of CEC (Centre for Comparative Studies of the University of Lisbon – FLUL).
